TroubleshootingChapter 10: Troubleshooting

How do I handle social pressure around food?

Short answer first. Full logic in the chapter.

Answer

People will question your choices. "One slice won't hurt." "You look fine already." "Live a little."

The J.A.D.E. Rule — Never:

  • Justify your choices
  • Argue about nutrition
  • Defend your system
  • Explain your reasoning

Instead, use the ABC Formula:

  • 1. Acknowledge — "I appreciate you thinking of me."
  • 2. Brief boundary — "I'm good with what I have."
  • 3. Change topic — "So, how's your [project/trip/kid]?"

No one needs to understand your system. You're not a missionary. You're a person quietly executing a plan while everyone else debates methods.
